Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Management is the key to gaining online credibility. Essentially, SEO management is the art of optimizing your presence on the web to make your site rank higher in search engines. The higher you rank in the search results, the more people are likely to see your site.

Now, this may seem like a pretty simple concept, but SEO management is a hugely complex topic to which some people have dedicated their careers.  We at Talk of the Town highly recommend talking with an SEO management professional to ensure you are getting the most out of what the web has to offer. In the meantime, here is a very basic list of things you can do to improve your search engine ranking.
  1. Remove any bot blocker files that may have been left on your website. This will allow search engines to catalog your site. Be sure your site is “crawlable.”
  2. Make sure each page on your site has a different title tag, and make sure the tag is relevant to the content of the page.
  3. Links improve ratings. Encourage all your affiliates to link your page to their own. Make it easy for anyone visiting your page to bookmark it. Organize your site in a way that is logical, and provide as many relevant links to appropriate content as possible.
  4. Research and use strong keywords for your site. There are many paid and free keyword research tools to help you with this.
  5. Never use “Click Here” for a link. Always use a relevant keyword instead.
  6. Use keywords in the “alt text” for all the images on your site.
  7. Use the media to drive people to your site. Press releases, letters to editors, corporate blogs and the like will generate interest in your business and create more content on the web that links to your site.
  8. Start a company blog to highlight your business news and publish your press releases.
  9. Start a Twitter account and get people to subscribe. The real-time   feedback it provides will boost you up in new search engines, namely Google Caffeine.
Use social networking sites to get people involved with your business. Get the public excited, and get them talking.  Encourage them to rate you on consumer feedback sites.
